Meet the Moomin family and their friends
The Moomins are a family of kind trolls with soft white fur, a large round snout, pointy ears and a long tail ending in a tuft. They live a happy and adventurous life in the wooded Moominvalley, which is bordered on one side by the Lonely Mountains and on the other by the sea.
Along the Moomins, you meet all kinds of creatures, big and tiny, joyous and grumpy, charming and odd, and sometimes even a bit scary.
However fantastical and peculiar occurrences and adventures come their way, their positive and open-minded take on life resolves everything. That's the essence of Moomin philosophy.

Tove Jansson – The creator of the Moomins
The Finnish-Swedish author and artist Tove Jansson (1914–2001) created the sympathetic Moomins and their extraordinary world in the 1940s. The first book, "The Moomins and the Great Flood" (1945), introduced Moomintroll, Moominmamma, and Moominpappa – the central characters of Moominvalley in the stories that were to follow. Jansson got inspired by life around her, friends and family members. Initially, the stories were written more for adults; later, they became children’s favourites as well.
