How does the Moomin Arabia Home mug raffle work?

  1.  The Raffle is open to entries from Finland (excluding Åland), Sweden, Norway, Denmark & Germany.
  2. There is a limit of one (1) order and one (1) Product per household. Subsequent orders will be void.
  3. This Raffle is open only for a fixed period. Entries can be submitted from 12.3.2025 from 12:00 EET until 17.03.2025 at 16:00 EET on the campaign page. It doesn’t matter at what stage of the raffle you participate; everyone has the same chance to win the purchase right. 
  4. The Raffle closes on 17.03.2025 at 16:00 EET. We conduct a random selection of the entries via an algorithm — participants are notified via email if they are randomly selected or not selected within 24 hours. Winners are drawn on 18th of March. 
  5. When you participate in the Raffle, you'll be required to pre-authorize your payment method before submitting your entry. 189,90€ (the full price of the product) will be reserved on your credit card. Your card will not be charged.
    If selected in the Raffle, your credit card will automatically be charged for the price of the product and you'll receive an order confirmation email with your purchase details. 

    If you're not selected, the reservation on your credit card will be released. You’ll be notified by email.  If you are not selected, you won't be able to purchase the product on moominarabia.com.   
    A pre-authorization is not yet a charge, and the funds will not be transferred to us until the purchase has been charged.

  6. You will be added to Moomin Arabia Family, no need to join separately. We will add you. 

  7. Abuse and/or policy violations within the system will result in cancellation or disqualification.  

 

General information 

What is the Home mug?

It’s the very special collector’s item to celebrate Moomin 80th anniversary in 2025 – the illustration of the mug is based on the first Moomin story written by Tove Jansson, “The Moomins and the Great Flood”. 
 The exclusive Home mugs are manufactured and hand-painted in Thailand. For Hand-painting we are using the same professionals as Royal Copenhagen and the mugs are painted by individual hand-painters making each of the mugs a unique item. A lovely detail is that the bottom of each mug bears the initials of the person who painted it.

How many Home mugs are there?

8000 Home mugs were produced. 7897 Products are available for the online Raffle in March and the rest of the Home mugs will be available in in-store lotteries throughout 2025. Numbers 1 and 2 have been gifted to Suzanne Innes-Stubb, the First Lady of Finland, and Sophia Jansson, Tove Jansson’s niece. 

Where is the Home mug sold?

The Home mug is only available to purchase via the special raffles, it can't be purchased separately.

How much does the Home mug cost?

The price of the mug is in euros 189.90 €. In this raffle, we are selling  only in euros. 

Why is the price of the mug so expensive?

The exclusive mug is hand-painted by individual professionals which makes it a collector’s item. All details are added by hand. The product is also sold in a giftbox, and only 8000 items will be manufactured for Moomin 80 anniversary year. Also, a lovely detail is that the bottom of each mug bears the initials of the person who painted it. 

Are there any additional ‘Home’ products to buy?

No.

What are the care instructions for the Home mug?

The Home mug is handpainted so it can only be handwashed and not used in the microwave.

Are the mugs numbered, or otherwise marked in some way? For example, with a bottom stamp?

Yes, the Home mugs are both numbered (1-8000) and marked with Moomin 80 back stamp. Also, a lovely detail is that the bottom of each mug bears the initials of the person who painted it.

Which story is the Home mug’s illustration based on?

The enchanting illustration spotlights the Moominhouse, based on the first Moomin   tale (“The Moomins and the Great Flood”) after Moominpappa is found and the flood is gone, the Moomin family start exploring the now-blooming surroundings. And just like magic, there it was: the house Moominpappa had built with his own hands, but thought was lost for the water. The family can now reunite in their beloved home!  

Tove Jansson wrote the first Moomin story during the hard years of the Second World War, looking to find comfort in a fairytale with a happy ending, just without princes and princesses but troll characters. 

The hand-painted illustration is designed by Parvati Pillai from Moomin Arabia’s design team. 

How do I know if I have won the raffle to buy the Home mug?

The raffle draw will be held on the 18th of March in the afternoon.  Participants in the raffle will need to provide their credit card information. The price of the mug will be reserved on the credit card. For winning entries, the credit card will be charged. We will inform all participants via e-mail.

Can I join the Raffle for more than one Product?

We allow you to join once per Raffle, and we allow only one (1) Product per entry, as we would like to ensure that each participant gets an equal chance of drawing one of the Products.

 

Orders & Payments

Which payment methods are available?

We accept following payment methods:

What if charging my credit card fails on the 18th March when the winners are drawn?

If you are selected as a winner and charging your card fails on the 18th March, we will cancel your entry and move on to randomly selecting a new winner. Please make sure your card is valid and has sufficient funds thru 19th March.

Why won’t my reservation or payment go through?

If your reservation or payment is unsuccessful, please check the following:

  • Did you enter your card and billing details correctly?
  • Did you enter a complete and valid delivery and billing address? Kindly note, we can’t deliver to a PO Box.
  • Did you enter the correct card type, card number, issue number, expiry date, valid from/to date, and CVV security code (the three-digit number on the back of your card)?
  • Do you have sufficient credit on your account at time of the reservation or payment?

If the problem persists, please contact your bank.

Is it possible to reserve the products in advance?

No – the sales only happen through the raffle and store lotteries.

Can only Moomin Arabia Family members participate in the raffle?

Yes, only members can participate in the raffle. If you are not yet a member, you will be automatically added as a member when you enter the raffle. You can join in advance here.

Can I choose which number I purchase?

Unfortunately you cannot select the number, as Products are drawn randomly.

Can I opt out of buying the Product if I'm selected in the Raffle?

By joining the Raffle, you are explicitly agreeing to purchase the Product, should you be chosen. If you've changed your mind about the Product, you can return it. For returns, please contact our Customer Service at info@moominarabia.com.

What happens if I joined the Raffle and was not selected?

If you’re not selected, you will not be able to purchase the Product. You will be notified by email. The reservation on your credit card will be released , depending on your bank this might take a couple of days. 

I want to change my delivery address or my contact details, what should I do?

The delivery option selected at checkout can't be changed. In other matters, please contact Customer Service at info@moominarabia.com.

I have not received email to confirm my participation. What should I do?

Please contact Customer Service and provide the details used in the order, including name, address, phone number and email address.

There were technical difficulties in the online store and I couldn’t get my order through. Who can I contact with my complaints and feedback?

We apologize for any inconvenience you might have experienced while participating in the raffle. With any feedback you can contact our customer service at: info@moominarabia.com 

What happens to Products that are returned. Will they be offered for sale?
Returned Products will not be offered for sale. We reserve the right to use these Products for various marketing and PR purposes.

 

Shipping & Deliveries

When will I receive the mug if I’m able to buy it through the raffle?

The mugs will be delivered after the raffle has been completed; the delivery time is 10-14 working days.

Where do you deliver?

The Product can be delivered to Finland (not Åland), Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Germany.

We are not able to deliver to the following: VAT-free areas, PO Box addresses, hotels, hostels or army barracks. 

What are the delivery costs?

Delivery to Finland (please note we are not able to deliver to Åland)

  • deliveries are made by Posti, you may select between pick up delivery or home delivery. We offer pick up delivery free of charge. There is an additional 5€ fee for home delivery.

Delivery to Sweden

  • deliveries are operated by GLS/Schenker. We offer pick up delivery free of charge.

Delivery to Norway

  • deliveries are operated by GLS/Bring. Pickup delivery 9.90€.

Delivery to Denmark

  • deliveries are operated by GLS. We offer pickup delivery and home delivery free of charge.

Delivery to Germany

  • deliveries are operated by GLS. We offer pickup delivery and home delivery free of charge.

How can I track the delivery of my Product?

You will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number.

What happens if I’m not there to receive my delivery?

If your package cannot be delivered or it is not picked up from a pick-up point, it will be returned to us. As we can’t re-dispatch deliveries that have been returned to us as undeliverable or uncollected, we will consider your delivery cancelled and we will issue you a refund equal to the price of the Product. Please note, the cost of home delivery (for home deliveries in Finland only) will be deducted from the refund. 

I was chosen as a winner, but have not received the Product, what should I do?

Is the raffle available in store as well?

No, this raffle is only available online, however separate store lotteries will take place five times throughout the anniversary year. Read more here.

 

Return & Refunds

What if I receive a broken Product?

We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Please contact our Customer Service and they will assist you. Indicate your name, order number and Product concerned. Attach an image of damaged Product if possible. You can find the order number in the shipping confirmation email we’ve sent you. We would ask you to send back the broken Product. We will refund the money. We would not be able to send a replacement Product, as the manufactured quantity is limited.

Can I return the mug?

You have a right of return and refund during a period of fourteen (14) days from the day you receive the Product.
